Youth Advise Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba

Children under the age of 18 have the right to be heard! That is why UNICEF Netherlands works with children every year to create the UNICEF Youth Advisory Report. This year, for the first time, children from Bonaire, St Eustatius and Saba are also taking part in the survey, so that they too can have their say on the situation regarding children’s rights on the islands.

The Youth Advisory Report

Every year, UNICEF Netherlands conducts a survey among children and youth and publishes the results in the Youth Advisory Report. The Report sets out what children under the age of 18 really consider important. It covers topics such as bullying, safety and the housing shortage.

At Jongeren Prinsjesdag (just before Prinsjesdag), members of the UNICEF Youth Panel present the Youth Advisory Report to Members of the House of Representatives and discuss the findings with them. They share their concerns, as well as opportunities and solutions for various social issues.

Children from the Dutch Caribbean speak up

Update: The research for the youth consultation has begun and will run until around the end of May 2026.

We are incorporating the views of children and youth on the BES Islands by distributing the survey there as well and organising one online focus group. The results from the BES Islands form an integral part of the report.
