Do you see a child who is dangerously underweight? A child who is too short for his or her age? Or a child who is overweight?
Child malnutrition has many faces but a similar cause: a lack of good nutrition. And the scale of the issue is alarming: one in three children worldwide is not getting the nutrition her or she needs in order to survive and thrive. Malnutrition has a major impact on the lives and futures of these children, as well as the development opportunities of societies at large.
Good nutrition is not only the bedrock of child survival and development, it is also a child’s basic human right. That is why UNICEF is working around the clock worldwide to make sure that every child can get the nutrition it needs.
